The Miami Trolley

You’ll love this “retro” and popular trolley with its wood paneled and air-conditioned interior. It’s totally free of cost offering 10 routes starting from 6:30 am and running until 7 pm for the entire week. Hop on and check out Biscayne, Coconut Grove, Coral Way, Little Havana and many other points of interest. Download the trolley’s route from here. The closest trolley stop is just two blocks away from the Park Royal Miami Beach.

Metromover

The free Miami Metromover is nearly 100% perfect with its efficiency, cleanliness and zero cost. This elevated 4.4-mile electrically-powered, fully automated people mover crosses downtown Miami and connects with the 25-mile dual track, elevated Metrorail system.

The metromover’s three lines are:

  • Inner loop

Travels the business district including the South Florida Historical Museum and the Miami Art Museum.

  • Omni loop

Goes north. Take this line to arrive at the Freedom Tower, the Bayside Marketplace and the spectacular American Airlines Arena.

  • Brickell loop

Goes south, covering important tourism points such as Miami Circle, and the Indian ruins dating back more than 2,000 years.

Metrorail

This 25-mile long elevated train route goes from the airport to principal points in the city. There are 23 stops, separated by a mile from each other. Trains arrive every 10-30 minutes, depending on the time of day. Tickets cost US$2.50 per ride. A map of the route is available online. Check the map here.

Big Bus Miami Tour

This hop-on, hop-off tour bus costs US$45 per person. Get on and off whenever you want, exploring the city at your own rhythm. Stops include South Beach, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and many other points of interest. For more details click here.

Shuttle

Shopping centers, including the Dolphin and Sawgrass Mills malls now offer reasonably priced shuttle transportation to improve their shoppers’ experience. The shuttle buses arrive at specified points each morning, including the airport, Miami Beach, and certain hotels and then whisk riders to the specified mall. The shuttles return in the afternoon and evening to the same pickup points. Shopping mall internet pages have information on routes, costs and hours of operation.
