EL CHALTÉN
Patagonia Argentina is filled with surprises and this is one of them. El Chaltén is Argentina’s capital of trekking, famous for its imposing Cerro Fitz Roy and its trails that take you to glacier lakes. Located in the province of Santa Cruz, it’s ideal for those looking for challenging hikes with spectacular views. To get there, it is necessary to fly to El Calafate and travel 220 km until getting to El Chaltén.
The best time of the year to explore this place is from October to April.
SAN MARTÍN DE LOS ANDES
Surrounded by mountains and forests in the Lanín National Park, this destination offers impressive landscapes and activities such as trekking on the Lanín volcano or kayaking in the Lacár Lake.
You can arrive at Chapelco by plane, or from Bariloche enjoying the Route of the Seven Lakes. The Cardenal Samoré Pass is very close and connects to Villa La Angostura. You can visit it year-round, as there is also a major ski resort nearby.
SEISMILES ROUTE

Catamarca, in the northeast of Argentina, is one of the trending mountain destinations because it offers impressive landscapes. The Seismiles Route is one of these wonders.
To get there, you have to take a flight from Buenos Aires to San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca and from there drive or take an excursion to Fiambalá, the starting point of the Seismiles Route.
The Seismiles Route is an impressive chain of volcanoes over 6000 meters high that stretches across the Catamarca Puna, on the border with Chile.
Notable landmarks include Mount Pissis, Ojos del Salado (the highest volcano in the world), and Tres Cruces. This destination is ideal for experienced mountaineers but also offers spectacular views for those who prefer exploring the region by 4×4.
It is ideal to visit between October and March to avoid extreme temperatures and have a couple of days of acclimation for the height difference.
MENDOZA
Aconcagua, the highest summit in America, is an iconic destination for mountaineers. From Santiago, you can go by car, the route has incredible landscapes, or, you can fly to Mendoza and drive towards the Aconcagua Provincial Park.
If you’re not looking to climb the peak, you can find more accessible trekking routes like the walk to the base camp of Plaza Francia, with magnificent views of the peak. The best time to visit is from November to March. Don’t forget to stay at the Huentala Hotel.
