BUENOS AIRES: UNMISSABLE SPOTS FOR YOUR FIRST TRIP

by Royal Holiday Club 30 September, 2026
    written by Royal Holiday Club

Buenos Aires is right around  a ten-hour flight from the United States or Canada— and it’s just as surprising as Europe. If you’re planning your first trip to the Argentine capital, here is a guide to what you need to include.

THE BUENOS AIRES HEART: MICROCENTRO AND PLAZA DE MAYO
    argentina

The first thing you have to do in Buenos Aires is to visit the Microcentro. Explore Plaza de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

It is the country’s historic and political epicenter, and walking from there you can easily get to Peatonal Florida, the famous street filled with stores, leather goods, and curiosities.

From there, you’re steps away from the Colón Theatre, considered one of the most important lyrical theatres in the world. You can take a guided tour and it is absolutely worth it.

There you’ll find the emblematic Obelisco, the city’s symbol and a must-visit for a photo.

SAN TELMO AND LA BOCA: PURE TANGO
    san telmo

No trip to Buenos Aires is complete without visiting San Telmo, the most bohemian neighborhood in the city. If you go on a Sunday, the San Telmo Fair is a beautiful organized chaos of antiquities, crafts, and people dancing the tango in the street.

From there you can go to La Boca, where Caminito welcomes you with its colorful houses and its picturesque street spectacles. Share your Holiday Credits with your family!

RECOLETA AND PALERMO: ELEGANCE AND GOOD LIFE
    recoleta argentina

For a complete contrast, the Recoleta neighborhood is pure glamour.

Its cemetery is one of the most impressive you’ll ever see. The mausoleums that look like sculptures and Evita’s grave are things you will want to see. The area is beautiful, it looks like you’re in Paris.

Nearby, Palermo Soho and Hollywood are the neighborhoods to get lost in with cool coffee shops, design fairs, and a lively nightlife.

EATING AND DRINKING LIKE A BUENOS AIRES LOCAL
    argentina

You can’t leave Buenos Aires without trying a good grill or barbecue, accompanied by a Malbec. Add to your list its famous empanadas, medialunas, and of course, a traditional ice cream.

PUERTO MADERO, FOR THE FINAL TOUCH

Visit Puerto Madero at sunset. This is the city’s most modern neighborhood, with its antique dikes that were turned into restaurants and offices, with the Puente de la Mujer and the Fragata Sarmiento in the background.

    STAY NEAR EVERYTHING

For the first trip, location is everything, and that’s where Park Royal City Buenos Aires shines.

It is in the center, close to Plaza San Martín, Florida Street, and Colón Theatre. It has a buffet breakfast, free WiFi, 24-hour reception, and a gym so you will never miss your routine among so many empanadas.

It offers a great location, comfort, and price that are hard to match; it is perfect for first-time travelers who want to make the most of every minute without spending too much time on transportation.
