FOREST AND SEA BATHING: THE NATURAL CONNECTION TREND IN 2026

by Royal Holiday Club 31 March, 2026
    written by Royal Holiday Club

In the last few years, we have seen how natural tourism has become more than just a trend: it is a necessity. Every day, more and more travelers seek more authentic experiences that can profoundly connect them to the environment.

In 2026, one of the main trends in nature vacations is the forest and sea baths, practices that combine digital disconnection, contemplation, and conscious contact with nature.

This trend represents a unique opportunity to experience Royal wellness in destinations where nature is not only a backdrop, but the main character.

Rest also means coming back home more relaxed, connected, and enlightened.

    WHAT IS A FOREST BATH?
    Nature tourism

The concept of forest bathing comes from Japan, where it is known as Shinrin-yoku, it consists of immersing yourself in a forest environment.

A forest bath starts in silence. Turning off your phone, taking deep breaths, and walking without rushing.

It’s about noticing all the details: how the light shines in between branches, how temperature changes under the shadows, what the humid ground smells like. It is a simple but powerful act.

A forest bath is a form of eco-therapy. Multiple studies have proven that spending time in natural environments reduces stress, improves your mood, and strengthens the immune system.

At the peak of nature tourism, this practice has become an integral part of wellness.

    ICONIC DESTINATIONS FOR FOREST BATHS

Among all the destinations worldwide chosen for this trend, Japan stands out the most, the birthplace of Shinrin-yoku. Its millennial forests and quiet trails offer a perfect environment to practice this eco-therapy.

In California, the Redwood National Park is famous for its giant trees, which create an almost mystical atmosphere.

In Germany, the Black Forest combines tradition, culture, and vast forests that invite you to disconnect from the daily noise. Its soft trails and charming towns make the forest bath part of a bigger experience.

And in South America, the Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia have forests and lakes that create the perfect scenery for this trend.

    SEA BATHS

In the nature tourism scheme, sea baths are when you dive into the sea consciously: walking barefoot on the sand, feeling the water on your skin, floating, and letting yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the waves.

Destinations like Tulum, Mexico are chosen for their turquoise waters and their focus on holistic wellness. There, the experience combines yoga by the sea, healthy food, and eco-therapy practices.

In Hawaii, especially in Maui, being in contact with the ocean is an essential part of the local culture. You can take a sea bath at sunrise or sunset in an environment where the landscape inspires you to slow down.

Both practices can be part of your next Royal wellness vacation, helping you recharge your energies. Find your ideal destination with your Royal Holiday membership, whether it’s at the resorts you love or something new with TravelXtra.
